  Knife-throwing, petty thief Cuchillo (Tomas Milian) finds out from a prison inmate, who he helped escape, the location of a cache of gold. After the prisoner is killed, Cuchillo heads for the gold, which is intended to help fund the Mexical Revolution. But others also want the gold. One of the better spaghetti Westerns, with humor thrown in for good measure.

  City leaders, led by Stengel (Franco Ressel) hire robbers to steal money from an Army safe and plan to use the money to buy land in order to build a railroad. The robbers get the money, but Stengel doesn't want to share the loot, so he offers a reward for the capture of the robbers. Sabata (Lee Van Cleef) rides into town, tracks down the robbers, and collects the reward. Then he realizes that Stengel was behind the theft and attempts to blackmail him, which leads Stengel to hire assassins to kill Sabata. But, Sabata outwits them, kills Stengel, and rides out of town. This spaghetti Western spawned two sequels, "Adios, Sabata" and "The Return of Sabata."
