  Based on John Gay's 18th-century opera, this is the story of highwayman Captain MacHeath (Laurence Olivier) who loves the beggar king Peachum's (George Devine) daughter Polly (Dorothy Tutin) but is also interested in Lucy (Daphne Anderson) who is the daughter of the corrupt constable Mr. Lockit (Stanley Holloway). When Polly and Lucy join forces, they manage to have MacHeath sent to prison and condemned to a hanging. While in prison, The Beggar (Hugh Griffith) entertains MacHeath with an opera featuring MacHeath as a hero, and soon after MacHeath is rescued from his death sentence.

Now residents in his new home start disappearing, and it is the good doctor who is responsible. Silly, but somewhat fun.

  This is a good remake of the 1932 original Boris Karloff film. The story is about an archaeological dig during which British archaeologist John Banning (Peter Cushing) desecrates the tomb of Princess Ananka (Yvonne Furneaux) and awakens Ananka's lover Kharis (Christopher Lee) who was buried with her. Kharis, the Mummy, returns to life and follows Banning back to England to seek revenge. Dire consequences ensue when Kharis finds that Banning's wife (also played by Furneaux) very closely resembles Ananka.
