While riding an express train through pre-World War II Germany, Amanda (Cybill Shepherd) meets and makes friends with Miss Froy (Angela Lansbury). But, Miss Froy disappears, and, when Amanda can't find her, she gets help from an American photographer (Elliott Gould). Their efforts lead to the discovery that there is more to Miss Froy than meets the eye.
