  Based on a novel by Molly Keane, this comedy/drama takes place on a run-down estate where Jasper Swift (John Gielgud) lives with his three elderly sisters May (Ursula Howells), "Baby" June (Brenda Bruce), and Lady Alys Crowshawe (Mavis Walker). Jasper takes care of the garden and kitchen while the sisters argue and get on each others' nerves. Then along comes long-lost cousin Leda (Googie Withers) who tries to take charge and stirs up the already unsettled household by bringing back old memories that the family had been happy to forget.
