Based on Arthur Miller's classic play about the Salem witch trials, this is an excellent film concerning the effects caused by jealousy and religion in old Massachusetts. Paul Scofield stands out as Judge Danforth who is determined to rid evil from Salem, and Winona Ryder is very convincing as Abigail Williams who deceives, lies, and wreaks havoc in order to steal her ex-lover who is the husband (Daniel Day-Lewis) of hated rival Elizabeth Proctor (Joan Allen).

But, Kathleen decides to marry Harrigan's leading man, cowboy actor Buck Greenway (Burt Reynolds). Harrigan and Greenway go their separate ways but are reunited by story's end.

The show that Michael works on becomes a hit, and he reaches celebrity status in the guise of a woman. But, complications ensue when Michael's relationship with his girlfriend Sandy (Teri Garr) fails, and Michael falls for his co-star Julie (Jessica Lange) who believes that Michael/Dorothy is a woman and, in turn, tries to fix Michael up with her widowed father, Les (Charles Durning). An Oscar for Best Supporting Actress went to Jessica Lange. Dan Curtis, of the "Dark Shadows" TV show, brings three interwoven stories to a made-for-TV film–all starring Karen Black. "Julie"-A student is infatuated with his teacher, gets her out on a date, then drugs and photographs her. When he tries to blackmail her, she kills him, and now it starts over with another student. "Millicent and Therese"-Two estranged sisters have opposite personalities. When Millicent tries to kill her sister using a voodoo doll, we find out that they are actually the same person. "Amelia"-This one makes the film and has become a classic in itself. Amelia bought a doll that supposedly contains the soul of a great tribal warrior. When a chain around the doll breaks, the soul is released, and the doll and Amelia fight it out around the apartment. When Amelia thinks she has killed the doll, she finds she is mistaken since the warrior now possesses her. This film broke new ground in TV with its sex and horror theme.
