He takes Henry to the elevator and tells him that it may be difficult to get through the Pearly Gates but that if he succeeds he will join Martha. An excellent film based on Ladislaus Bus-Fekete's play, "Birthdays." Oscar nominations were received for Best Picture and Director.

Thelma Ritter does a great job and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
