  This story begins with Sara (Julia Stiles) riding a train to Chicago where she will live with her estranged father (Terry Kinney). Once a promising dancer, Sara blames herself for the car accident that killed her mother because she was rushing to Sara's audition. Now Sara is unhappily enrolled in an inner-city school, which is very different from her small-town school. Fortunately, she meets Derek (Sean Patrick Thomas) who also loves dancing. With Derek's help, will Sara get over her grief and dance again? You guessed it!
