This story, based on the Edgar Allen Poe short story, "The Facts in the Case of Mr. Valdemar," involves wealthy Mr. Valdemar (Howard Hesseman) and his deal with "mesmerist" Dr. Pretory (Jason Carter) to be put into a trance just before he dies so that he can cheat death. The experiment will allow him to make life miserable for his daughter, Daisy (Jessica Capshaw), and her boyfriend, Benjamin (Neil Patrick Harris).
