During the 1970s, Dickie Roberts was a precocious child star of a TV show. But, Dickie (David Spade) is now 35 years old and has left stardom behind. He parks cars for a living and plays poker with other child stars of the past. When Dickie hears about a new movie to be directed by Rob Reiner, he hopes for the role of a "normal" guy but is turned down because he wasn't raised in a "normal" environment. Dickie's solution: hire a "normal" family through which he can learn about the things he never experienced growing up.

The Zeta house is in bad shape and in danger of losing its charter if it does not sign up 30 new members. Shelley decides to help the Zeta girls learn the skills to turn them into desirable women more than able to compete with other sororities–especially the scheming girls of Phi Iota Mu sorority.
