  As all good Western film fans know, "Aces and Eights" is called the "death hand," which is named for the hand that Wild Bill Hickock held when he was shot. This hand of cards comes into play when Tim Madigan (Tim McCoy)–who doesn't even carry a gun–poses as a card sharp when he comes to the aid of a Mexican family who are being cheated out of their ranch.

  Lon Cardigan (Johnny Mack Brown) returns to his ranch and learns that Jeff Reynolds (Frank LaRue), who is his girlfriend Bobbie's (Claire Rochelle) father, has replaced his ranch hands with gunfighters. The real villain is John Porter (Ed Cassidy) who is behind a land-grabbing scheme to take over the valley, and Reynolds is doing his dirty work. Cardigan comes to the rescue with fists–not guns–to bring Porter to justice.

  Tex Masters (Tex Ritter) is on the rodeo circuit looking for his brother's killer. It appears that rodeo performers are being poisoned, and Tex is targeted since he has been winning too many events. Tex thwarts the efforts with the help of Carmen Serano (Rita Hayworth) and wins. Meanwhile, the gang causing the trouble robs a bank and uses a wagon containing dynamite for the getaway. But, again, Tex is there when needed.

  Detective Tex Stewart (Tex Ritter) poses as outlaw "The Pecos Kid" and, with his pals Ananias (Horace Murphy) and Pee Wee ("Snub" Pollard), learns about a mysterious railroad that Hiram Slaughter (Karl Hackett) and his henchman, Badger (Charles King) are using to rustle cattle to a hideout across the border. The railroad heiress, Sally Jeffers (Pamela Blake), has hired The Pecos Kid to investigate, but problems ensue when Slaughter accuses The Pecos Kid and his pals of being rustlers. Sally turns against them, and they are sentenced to be hanged. All ends well though, and Sally even sees the error of her ways.
