Small-town Dr. "Jack" Jackson (Harold Lloyd) visits The Sick-Little-Well-Girl (Mildred Davis) in the sanitarium where she is being cared for by a quack, Dr. Ludwig von Saulsbourg (Eric Mayne), who is making a fortune off his patient. Her treatment takes place in a dark room, and Dr. "Jack" decides that sunshine–not the dark–is what she needs. As it turns out, she falls in love with Dr. "Jack" and he with her. In the process, Dr. "Jack" scares Dr. Saulsbourg by disguising himself as an escaped convict, Dr. Saulsbourg leaves the sanitarium, and the love story is allowed to continue.

While riding a train on the way to talk to a publisher, Harold meets and falls in love with Mary Buckingham (Jobyna Ralston) after he helps her smuggle her dog aboard the train. Unfortunately, Harold learns that Mary is engaged to marry another, and now all of his efforts go into stopping that wedding.

This film is divided into three acts. In the first one, newly wed Harold (Harold Lloyd) enters into a henpecked relationship when Wifey (Jobyna Ralston) calls on the phone and asks him to bring home a few things from the market. Those errands include a ride on the trolley with a live turkey in tow. Next, his in-laws arrive for a visit, and Harold takes them for a catastrophic ride in his new car. Finally, Harold chloroforms his ill-tempered mother-in-law (Josephine Crowell), and, when she begins to sleep walk, Harold thinks she is haunting him. All three acts provide good classic comedy scenes.

The girlfriend is captured by a wicked maharaja (Dick Sutherland), and now it is up to the young Naval officer to rescue her.

After Edith is kidnapped by the thief, Jack impersonates the thief's assistant (luckily he looks like the aide) to get the job done. This film sat on the shelf until 1943 when Chaney was a hot commodity.

But there is no rest and relaxation on this trip when Harold finds himself in the middle of a political uprising. He is imprisoned and while there makes friends with a giant, Colosso (John Aasen). Together, the two escape confinement and eventually put an end to the revolution.
