  During the Civil War, a Union naval officer, Lieutenant Kenneth Reynolds (James Dunn), is stripped of his commission after he sinks, instead of obeying orders by Confederate forces to set fire to his ship, the Merrimac. Later, the Confederates raise the Merrimac and restore it. Meanwhile, Reynolds is reinstated and serves on the Monitor during which time he is involved in the historic battle of the Monitor and the Merrimac.

  This is an excellent, exciting rendition of James Fenimore Cooper's classic novel, with Randolph Scott in perhaps his best work as Hawkeye. During the French and Indian War, Hawkeye escorts the two daughters–Alice and Cora Munro (Binnie Barnes and Heather Angel) of the commander of a fort through hostile territory accompanied by the last two survivors of the Mohican tribe Uncas (Philip Reed) and Chingachgook (Robett Barrat).

After her father goes into debt to his bookie, Sorrowful Jones (Adolphe Menjou), Miss Marker (Shirley Temple) becomes a ward of the bookie as an I.O.U. Remade in 1949 as "Sorrowful Jones" with Bob Hope, in 1963 as "Forty Pounds of Trouble" with Tony Curtis, and in 1980 with Walter Matthau.

They give up their positions in exchange for a health farm, which they refurbish and then invite beauty pageant workers to take jobs as health instructors for the guests. But more than a few problems lie ahead between Don and Barbara and the publishers before they find success.
