This is perhaps Harold Lloyd's greatest film–a real silent classic, which is both hilarious and warm. Tough Sheriff Jim Hickory has two tough sons–Leo and Olin (Leo Willis and Olin Francis)–and one wimpy one, Harold (Lloyd). The only way for Harold to win respect is to out-think the others while also trying to win the affection of his fair maiden Mary (Jobyna Ralston). Then, when the town's money is stolen, and Harold's father is accused, Harold is the one who must save the day.

Alonzo the Armless (Lon Chaney)–but he really does have arms– is a knife thrower in a circus who uses his feet to accomplish his feats. The deed is done, but in the interim the object of his love gets over her phobia and falls in love with another man. Now, Alonzo schemes to get her back.
