  Gunfighter Colt Ferron (Bob Steele) kills his father's murderers and joins Wolf Whitson's (Ted Adams) gang of outlaws. Two years later, Wolf ends his life as a gang leader by turning himself in and giving Colt his ranch. All goes well, until the old gang members appear on the scene, now led by Snake Bralt (Lew Meehan). Colt goes to Governor Gray (A.C. Henderson) and tells him that if he will release Wolf from prison, the two of them can bring in the gang. Now, it is up to the governor to make a big decision.

In the process, he finds Gail–whose husband was killed by the dastdardly Trent (Earl Dwire)–and even finds his father who is now a bandit. Johnny and his father take care of Trent

Is there any connection between the notes and the fact that the ranch is adjacent to an abandoned gold mine? Billy comes to her aid and deals with assorted bad guys and murders. Above average oater.

He identifies "The Shadow" as Matt Matlock (George "Gabby" Hayes), a man who has assumed the identity of the real Matt Matlock after killing him. Matlock's niece, Anita (Verna Hillie), is visiting him and has no idea that the "uncle" she is visiting is really an imposter. Travers captures "The Shadow's" gang and rescues Anita. Now, Anita and Travis fall in love, marry, and live happily ever after on the Matlock ranch with Yak by their side.

Later, John meets Dan's sister Beth (Lucile Browne) who, not knowing of the role he may have played in her brother's death, hires John as her ranch foreman. Stagecoach robber Joe Dickson (LeRoy Mason) tells Beth about John's past, and, later, John learns that Joe is the one responsible for Dan's death. John calls together a tribe of Indians to track down Joe, and, no longer feeling guilty, John is now free to fall in love with Beth.
