Angela (Mary Pickford) runs a lighthouse (that she names "The Love Light") off the coast of Italy while she awaits her friend and two brothers who are off in the war. An American seaman is washed ashore, Angela takes him in, and they fall in love. The sailor turns out to be a German spy, and now Angela must deal with the consequences in this heavy drama. The story was written and directed by Pickford's friend (Frances Marion), who got the story from a woman's account of her experiences in World War I.
