There are some good moments in this adaptation of James Joyce's masterpiece concerning Leopold and Molly Bloom's (Milo O'Shea and Barbara Jefford) streams of consciousness. The story takes place over a 24-hour period when impotent Leopold meets a young poet, Stephen Dedalus (Maurice Roeves). They visit a brothel, and sit up all night talking. After Stephen leaves, Molly, who is unhappy with Leopold, fantasizes about a possible affair with Stephen. The film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Screenplay.
