When widower Ali (Tuncel Kurtiz) invites prostitute Yeter (Nursel Kose) to move in with him, Ali's son Nejat (Baki Davrak) disapproves. But, as time passes, Nejat learns that Yeter sends money to her daughter Ayten (Nurgul Yesilcay) in Istanbul, and he softens his views. When Yeter dies, Nejat obtains a false passport to track Ayten down in Istanbul. But, Ayten, who is a political activist, has left Turkey and is now in Germany where she has found a friend in German student Lotte (Patrycia Ziolkowska) whose mother Susanne (Hanna Schygulla) is not pleased with their lesbian friendship. Ayten is arrested and deported back to Turkey. Lotte follows to search for her, meets Nejat, and rents a room from him. Now, Lotte suffers a sudden death, and Susanne travels to Turkey where she meets Nejat who has moved to Istanbul, moves into Lotte's room, and hopes to spiritually reconnect with her daughter.
