  This award-winning film, set in a Brazilian desert during April, 1910, reveals the effects on feuding families who see honor in revenge. Tonho (Rodrigo Santoro) receives orders from his father to avenge his brother's murder and performs the deed even though he knows that he will be the next one marked for death. For a brief time, Tonho and his young brother, Pacu (Ravi Ramos Lacerda), escape by running away with a traveling circus. But honor weighs heavily, and they return home to face Tonho's fate.
