Nuclear testing in the Arctic results in the release of a frozen, prehistoric monster (a rhedosaurus), but when Tom Nesbitt (Paul Hubschmid), who saw the creature, tries to warn the people, his warnings fall on deaf ears. People start to believe when the monster heads down the East coast of the U.S. and invades New York from the sea. It is finally dealt with on Coney Island. Good early special effects and a glimmer of what would lie ahead in the monster world (e.g. Godzilla).
