  Warner Oland plays Charlie Chan in this story about a Honolulu detective who is aided by his son Lee (Keye Luke) in the search for the killer of one of his undercover agents, Nardi (Dorothy Appleby). Nardi had called on Chan to come to Paris to help get the goods on a counterfeiting ring, but all that remains of Nardi is one important cryptic clue. Lee comes to the aid of his father in solving the case and identifying the chief counterfeiter. This is the first "Charlie Chan" film in which Luke appears.

  Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, as Guy and Mimi, run into each other at a resort where Mimi is awaiting her divorce. Mimi mistakes Guy for the man (Erik Rhodes) who her aunt (Alice Brady) has hired to have a tryst with Mimi and, thus, provide the grounds for her divorce. Complications ensue when Guy is attracted to Mimi, but she, because of the mix-up, does not treat him well. By story's end, all ends happily. The dances to "The Continental" and "Night and Day" are delightfully performed in this film. "The Continental" won the Academy Award for Best Song, the first year that the award was given for this category. Nominations were also received for four other awards, including Best Picture.

  This is the "best of the best" of Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers musicals in which they perform their exquisite dance, "Cheek to Cheek." Actually, Madge's new husband is Jerry's business manager Horace Hardwick (Edward Everett Horton). Will Dale's case of mistaken identity be cleared up in time for Dale and Jerry to live happily ever after? The film received five Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture.
