While on a routine mission, a unit of National Guard soldiers stops at an outpost in New Mexico and finds that the research camp is deserted. They know that they cannot live without Friday and place Friday in an abandoned hotel that they turn into a shelter for stray animals. This works for awhile–until their caseworker Bernie (Don Cheadle) finds another home for Andi and Bruce. Their trespassing is discovered, and the dogs are impounded.
