Oscars were received for Best Sound and Editing; Ridley Scott was nominated for Best Director.

Bruce's father, Dr. David Banner (Nick Nolte), starts to secretly use the ray and mutates dogs that he sends after Bruce's ex-girlfriend Betty Ross (Jennifer Connelly). In the form of the Hulk, Bruce saves Betty, and Betty's father Gen. "Thunderball" Ross (Sam Elliott) takes him to a base that the Army has abandoned. At the base lab, Glen Talbot (Josh Lucas) takes over the Hulk and plots to use him for his own profit. Now, the Hulk escapes and lunges across the desert with the Army in hot pursuit. A good comic-book rendition but too intense for young children.

The other part of Huck's life is aspiring lounge singer Billie Offer (Drew Barrymore) who hooks up with him, leaves him, comes back, and leaves again in their on-again, off-again relationship. But the main thrust of this story is Huck trying to obtain the $10,000 needed to enter the World Poker Championship.

His brother-in-law, Sir Thomas Boleyn (Mark Rylance), has two daughters–Mary (Scarlett Johansson) and Anne (Natalie Portman)–and they decide that Anne is the one who should be Henry's consort. Henry is more interested in Mary, and she, instead of Anne, becomes his mistress. Anne, however, has her eyes set on becoming Queen of England. Time passes, and Henry becomes bored with Mary, divorces Catherine, breaks with the Roman Catholic Church, and marries Anne. But, as history shows, they will not live happily ever after, and the guillotine awaits Anne.
