This five-part series presents stories by Luigi Pirandello representing poverty stricken Sicilians. In "The Other Side," a peasant woman (Margarita Lozano) tries to contact her sons in America. "Moonstruck" involves a newlywed (Enrica Maria Modugno) who finds that the personality of her husband (Claudio Bigagli) changes during full moons. Franco Franchi and Ciccio Ingrassia are featured in "The Jar"–a story about a craftsman (Ingrassia) who gets trapped inside a jar that he is repairing. In Requiem," villagers oppose a feudal landlord, the Baron (Pasquale Spadola). The epilogue, "Conversing with Mother," involves a son (Omero Anonutti) who talks to the spirit of his deceased mother (Regina Bianchi).
