When the ski patrol closes for the night at a New England resort, snowboarders Dan Walker (Kevin Zegers), Joe Lynch (Shawn Ashmore), and Parker O'Neil (Emma Bell) are left stranded on the ski lift. The weather is frigid, a storm is on its way, and they are dangling high above the ground. When frostbite sets in, their situation worsens, and Dan jumps 50 feet down to the ground. As wolves gather, the snowboarders realize that their situation is far worse than they could have imagined.

After her brother, Johnny Shue (Jessie Lee Soffer), dies in a car accident following his soccer game, 13-year-old Gracie (Carly Schroeder) steps in to take his place on the field. It is 1978, soccer is a Shue-family affair, and Gracie is carrying on the family tradition. She petitions the local school board to allow feminine players on its teams, trains diligently, and takes over her brother's vacated place on the boys' soccer team–not an easy accomplishment in the 1970s.
