I hope some day it goes down as one of the greats of American independent filmmaking- which always has different values from the mega-budget "blockbusters", so it needs to be judged on its own terms.In a way, it reminded me of Garden State-simple, elegant and slightly under-drawn figures -just as we all are .I think Estevez captured that characteristic mundanity and chaotic inner-life of the subjects very well. Forget about looking for obvious thematic links between RFK and the disparate characters.It didnt need to be obvious, because at a subconscious level, there was a sense of tension slowly building out of the ordinary grist of daily life- and isnt that just how cataclysmic moments are formed? The ending was so incredibly moving- it was tinged with sentimentality and nostalgia for a lost moment but not at all mawkish, and it was just so sad. Estevez is agreat film maker when he really cares about his subject. |

This movie is about Boys that are young and reckless. These boys grew up in the Outside of society. They are rebels classified/labeled under Greasers. They weren't looking for a fight with the Socs. Boys who live on the west-side of town, rich cold kids. They were looking to belong. The main characters are Ponyboy , a boy who dreams another world where he would me normal and happy as well as Johnny his best buddy. Then there is Dally Winston who looks at the world with much hatred, and the rest of the gang, Two-Bit, Steve,Sodapop, and Darry. |
