In 1931 Germany, just before the Nazi take-over, Sally Bowles (Liza Minnelli) meets and has an affair with Brian (Michael York). This affair leads to a menage a trois with a German VIP (Helmut Griem). Joel Grey plays the menacing master of ceremonies. The film won eight Academy Awards, including Best Director (Bob Fosse), Best Actress (Liza Minnelli), and Best Supporting Actor (Joel Grey). Two other nominations were received, including Best Picture.
