Set in 1936, this story takes place in a short period of Spanish history when people dared to express their political and religious feelings. This compilation of three of Manuel Rivas' stories involves the trials of seven-year-old asthmatic Moncho (Manuel Lozano) as he comes of age amidst the turbulent times in his small village in Galicia, Spain. Fernando Fernan Gomez plays the understanding teacher who takes Moncho under his wing.
