Meanwhile, Vic's girlfriend (Carol Lynley) is drawn to a reporter, and their lives will certainly be in danger when the gang warfare ends, and Vic catches on to what is going on.

Complications ensue, but, by story's end, Dolly and Horace will live happily ever after. Three Academy Awards were won and four other nominations were received, including Best Picture.
