The Great Train Robbery 1903 N/R, 11 min. Genre: Action / Western
Director: Edwin S. Porter Cast: Gilbert M. Bronco-Billy, Walter Cameron, Marie Murray
This is the first time editing was used to develop a plot. Of particular importance is the use of editing to show three actions happening at the same time–the robbers, the train operator, and the posse. Although short, this movie is a landmark in film production.
