  This is the film adaptation of Phillip Barry's play about society and morals in which Tom Collier (Leslie Howard) loves Daisy Sage (Ann Harding) but enters into a socially correct marriage with Cecilia Harding (Myrna Loy) and lives to regret his decision. This story was remade in 1946 as "One More Tomorrow."

Now, Victor forces Alexander to pretend to be a Russian prince, "Alexis Penayev," and woo a wealthy American, Laura Ridgeway (Loretta Young), so that they can use her money to pay off the debt. The courtship begins, Alexis and Laura fall in love, and then the real prince (Gregory Ratoff) makes himself known. Has Victor taken on more than he can handle?
