Brilliant movie about corruption & greed. Business acumen, risk taking, fortunes won & lost & finally coming to terms with what is really important in life.
The book is better by far but only because more detail can be read in the book than can be put into a movie, unless it was to made into a series instead of a single movie.

This film does an excellent job of examining Nazi beliefs as it follows the lives of German soldier Christian Diestl (Marlon Brando) and American soldiers Michael Whiteacre (Dean Martin) and his buddy Noah Ackerman (Montgomery Clift) who are fighting in World War II. Ackerman becomes caught in the middle of the Army's anti-Semitism, while Diestl becomes disillusioned with the cause for which he fights. Fate brings the three soldiers together near a concentration camp during the war.
