The book is better by far but only because more detail can be read in the book than can be put into a movie, unless it was to made into a series instead of a single movie. |

Ackerman becomes caught in the middle of the Army's anti-Semitism, while Diestl becomes disillusioned with the cause for which he fights. Fate brings the three soldiers together near a concentration camp during the war.
