Seventeen-year-old Rachel (Lindsay Lohan) has rebelled one too many times, and now her alcoholic mother, Lilly (Felicity Huffman), leaves San Francisco and takes her spoiled daughter to grandmother Georgia's (Jane Fonda) home in the Mormon town of Hull, Idaho, to spend the summer. Although Georgia lays down her "Georgia Rules" to enforce good behavior, Rachel still manages to shake up the townsfolk but, in the process, learns compassion and understanding for her mother and grandmother.
