  Steel mill engineer Dick Brunton (Joel McCrea) meets the mill owner's daughter, Dot (Dorothy Mackaill), at a dinner party, and she is determined to marry him. They do marry soon after, and Dick quickly becomes Dot's pawn and is, indeed, a "kept husband." Unfortunately, her extravagances pose big problems. But, by story's end, Dick learns to deal with the problem, and Dot learns her lesson.
