Edward (Robert Hardy) is the former director of a mental hospital who inherits a house where multiple murders occurred. But, he is not alone in his quest; Dr. Mandeville (Christopher Lee), his sister Sarah (Joan Collins), and the estate's lawyer Prescott (Herbert Lom) also appear on the scene to claim the treasure for themselves. There is one little problem: the house is rumored to be haunted, and Edward now appears to be possessed by the evil spirit of the original owner and will stop at nothing to get the treasure for himself.

In the process, she overcame many obstacles, including the social issues of the 1890s-1930s in England. Jenny Seagrove plays the young Emma, and Deborah Kerr is the older Emma. Followed by a sequel: "Hold the Dream." Kerr received an Emmy nomination for her acting, and the production was also nominated for Best Miniseries.
