Life changes for Tom after he stops a robbery at his diner by grabbing one of the criminal's guns and killing both robbers. During the ensuing news coverage, the media thrusts Tom and his family into the spotlight, and a one-eyed thug from Philadelphia, Carl Fogarty (Ed Harris), identifies Tom as a killer from 15 years ago and leaves for Millbrook to confront him.
