As the 50+ mile race ensues, competition between the couples increases, and the men even use sabotage methods to come out ahead in the race. Comedy reigns as problems are encountered during the race in this delightful story. Great performances, excellent writing, and beautiful landscapes make this film worth watching.

Soon, the children and their new friends set out to prove Charles' innocence. A TV remake followed in 2000.
