  American ex-patriots–aspiring artist Paul Sloan (Dick Van Dyke) and struggling writer Casey Barnett (James Garner)–live together in Paris. Paul's girlfriend Nikki (Angie Dickinson) lives in America but pays their rent so that Paul can work on his paintings in Paris. When Paul is told by his art dealer that his paintings will be more valuable if he is dead, his solution is to fake his suicide, and he and Casey can live off the higher price tags.   This is a great film - truly a 60s comedy classic... the bad part is that it is not available as DvD (or even a VHS)... WHY?

  The Academy-Award team of brothers Robert B. Sherman and Richard M. Sherman wrote the songs "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang," "It's a Small World," "Chim Chim Cher-ee," and "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious"–which were among their collaborations. While their songs were loved, the brothers did not get along, and their rift led to their sons not even knowing that they had family members living nearby. Their sons, Gregory and Jeff, made this documentary that tells the story of Robert and Richard's unique relationship that, despite their estrangement, produced cherished, classic music.

The real substance of this movie is provided by the scene-stealing villains, most notably Al Pacino as Big Boy Caprice and Dustin Hoffman as Mumbles. "Sooner or Later" won an Oscar for Best Song.

Andrews won the Best Actress Oscar for her role, and "Chim Chim Cheree" won for Best Song. There were three other Academy awards as well as eight nominations, including Best Picture and Director. A delightful film that is filled with great songs.

Larry learns that this has been happening since the 1950s after the arrival of an Egyptian Tablet, and he now understands that his job is to make sure the museum is back in order by the time it opens each morning.   I was not expecting too much from what I assumed to be a children's movie but I enjoyed it as much as my young nieces. It's funny and clever without being insulting.

Next, Louisa marries inventor Larry (Paul Newman) who becomes wealthy and dies. Then, she marries business tycoon Rod (Robert Mitchum) who retires, becomes a farmer, and is killed by a bull. Finally, Louisa marries entertainer Jerry (Gene Kelly), and he becomes a star and is crushed to death by a mob of his fans. All died trying to make Louisa happy, and now she believes that the money they made is cursed.
