  This is one of the great World War II films. It relates the saga of U.S. Army Sergeant Bill Dane (Robert Taylor) and his rear guard soldiers as they protect General Douglas MacArthur's army during the retreat down a peninsula on Bataan. They face certain death while delaying the advancing Japanese troops in pursuit of MacArthur but are prepared to sacrifice themselves for their country.

  Based on David Wagoner's novel, this story involves young magician Danny Masters (Griffin O'Neal) who is always getting in trouble. Danny finds that the wallet is filled with graft money, and this time, he finds himself in over his head and suffers the consequences.

The bodyguards are also excellent football players, who can help the very poor college team. Lots of songs by Rodgers and Hart and plenty of funny happenings. Film debuts for Desi Arnaz, Eddie Bracken, and Van Johnson. Desi and Lucy met for the first time during filming.
