This four-and-a-half hour film is divided into two parts. Part I begins in 1956 as Castro (Demian Bichir), along with his rebel force–including Ernesto "Che" Guevara (Benicio Del Toro)–arrive in Cuba, and the guerilla war begins as they overthrow dictator Fulgencio Batista. Guevara emerges as a revolutionary hero. In Part II, the year is 1966, and Guevara disappears and then resurfaces in the Bolivian jungles where he recruits a band of guerillas to spread the revolution throughout Latin America.

This is their story, though it is little more than a showcase for Salma Hayek.
