Oleanna 1994 N/R, 90 min. Genre: Drama
Director: David Mamet Cast: William H. Macy, Debra Eisenstadt
The controversial play is brought to the screen but loses something in the translation. The two-character story centers around an arrogant, up-for-tenure college professor, John (William H. Macy), who is buying a new house and one of his students, Carol (Debra Eisenstadt), who is failing his course. They have a meeting in which she confronts him with her complaints, and John makes statements that could (and would) be taken out of context. Soon Carol has brought charges of sexual harassment against John, and subsequent meetings make matters even worse.
