  Naive astronomer Sam (Matthew Broderick) meets and joins forces with a photographer/artist, Maggie (Meg Ryan), in their obsessive moves to keep track of ex-lovers. The plot is pure "Hollywood": boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl, girl falls in love with boy. But the actors are engaging, and this comedy works.

Joel follows suit; however, in the middle of the procedure, Joel changes his mind and tries to resist the technology by hiding a memory of Clementine somewhere in his brain. The film received an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, and Kate Winslet was nominated for Best Actress.

  Long estranged from his family, Andrew (Zach Braff) returns home for his mother's funeral where he must deal with relatives and friends he knew in high school. While home for the funeral, Andrew gets rid of his meds and falls in love with Sam (Natalie Portman).
