When Dave realizes that corruption is the name of the game in his department and that illegal immigrants are being victimized, he and Joe join forces only to discover that the police scandal and the usual dirty politics are only a few of the obstacles with which they must deal.

They find work at a ranch in the San Joaquin Valley, but the foreman, Curley (Casey Siemaszko), torments Lennie, and Curley's wife (Sherilyn Fenn) flirts with Lennie–all of which leads to a tragic end.

Plans go terribly awry because there is an informer in their midst, and the robbers gather at an abandoned warehouse where they try to uncover who among them is the traitor who clued in the police. The story is told in flashbacks and is very violent, but the plot's twists and turns are riveting.
