While on a routine mission, a unit of National Guard soldiers stops at an outpost in New Mexico and finds that the research camp is deserted. The soldiers spot a distress signal in the distant hills and set out on a search-and-rescue mission. What they do not know is that cannibalistic desert-dwelling mutants are waiting with traps set to ensnare the soldiers–and the killings begin, one by one.
