Tropic Thunder 2008 R, 106 min. Genre: Action / Comedy

In this satire on Hollywood filmmaking, Oscar-winning actor Kirk Lazarus (Robert Downey Jr.) just doesn't fit in with the other actors–Tugg Speedman (Ben Stiller), Alpa Chino (Brandon T. Jackson), Kevin Sandusky (Jay Baruchel), and Jeff Portnoy (Jack Black)–on the set. Bickering fills the air, and after director Kamien Cockburn (Steve Coogan) is threatened with being fired by the film's producer Les Grossman (Tom Cruise), he sends the cast by helicopter to the jungles of Southeast Asia where filming is to be done by hidden cameras. Meanwhile, the film is axed, and the actors find themselves in a real war, lost in the jungle where they are hunted down by a Burmese drug ring, led by twelve-year-old Tran (Brandon Soo Hoo), that believes the actors are soldiers. Now, their acting skills really come into play. Robert Downey Jr. received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
