  Their 12-year-old son is murdered, and, finding it hard to cope with the tragedy, Macon (William Hurt) and his wife Sarah (Kathleen Turner) separate. The dead son's Welsh corgi has discipline problems, and Macon hires dog trainer Muriel (Geena Davis) to solve the problem. Now, Macon and Muriel start a relationship, but when Sara realizes what is happening, she wants to get back together with Macon, and problems lie ahead. Davis won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar. The film also received three Academy Award nominations including Best Picture.

So, too, the movie.

THX, with help from prison-mate SEN 5241 (Donald Pleasence) and TV hologram (Don Pedro Colley), escapes from prison, searches for LUH, and attempts to escape to Earth's surface while being pursued by the robocops.
