Break Out Film for James Whale and Colin Clive!joy 10/02/2009
This is a true "lost gem" that is worthy of a place in cinema history. It was the first Anglo-American film production, and brought both James Whale and Colin Clive to Hollywood. Clive actually left the SRO play in London for the 6 week shooting schedule. The film is an excellent re-telling of the Sherriff play. A play about the misery and waste of war, and the loss of a whole generation of young men of all countries. I won't deny that "JOURNEY'S END" is "old".. It is 80 years old, and because is is extremely rare to find a viewing copy, you will probably get a lot of snaps, crackles and pops.. Watch it as a testiment to when movies were young, and give thanks that it brought a legendary director and a brilliant young actor to Hollywood and fame.
