While in the North Country, Raoul (Lon Chaney) falls in love with Nanette (Betty Blythe). After the bad Buck (Francis MacDonald) tells Nanette that Raoul is dead, Buck wins her heart, and they agree to wed. But when Raoul returns and Buck is found out, Raoul and Nanette flee after Raoul kills one of Buck's henchmen. Now both the Mounties and Buck are after the couple.

Tess comes to Teola's aid after Teola becomes pregnant, and her lover Dan (Jack Henry) dies. Tess pretends to be the infant's mother to save Teola from disgrace. Now, Tess goes through trials and tribulations but, by story's end, will live happily ever after with Frederick who is the love of her life.
