Johnny and Tanner (Scott Waugh and Sean Graham) grow up in a dysfunctional environment with a brutal father. During one abuse of his mother, Tanner shoots his father and ends up in jail. Johnny is sent to a foster home and eventually does well in college, while Tanner lives a life of crime but is now trying to go straight. Fifteen years after the incident the brothers are reunited when Tanner asks Johnny to vouch for him at the parole office–not telling Johnny the office is not in California, but in Florida. So off they go, with 12 bucks in cash, learning a lot about each other on the cross-country trip.
