Ray Milland: "Most men lead lives of quiet desperation. I can't take quiet desperation." This film also won the Best Picture Academy Award, as did Billy Wilder for his directing and writing.

The previous owner is Stella's grandfather (Donald Crisp) who seems to know something but does not discuss it.
