Upon release from prison after shooting her husband, Babe Magrath (Sissy Spacek) returns to the family home, where she joins her eccentric sisters (Diane Keaton and Jessica Lange). In spite of pressures and problems, the sisters use humor to continue on with their lives. Spacek and Tess Harper (who plays their cousin) were nominated for Oscars for Best Actress and Supporting Actress, respectively.
